I started cooking when I moved to Houston, far away from the comfort and flavors of my hometown. I was homesick, craving the rich, soulful dishes I grew up on—but nothing in Texas quite hit the spot. So, I did what I knew best: I went into the kitchen and made it myself.

At a time when I was battling loneliness and the silent weight of depression, cooking became my therapy. It brought me peace, grounding me in joy and purpose. The smells, the spices, the sizzle of the skillet—it all reminded me of love. I'd find myself dancing in my seat, smiling between bites, feeling something I hadn’t felt in a long time: home.

As I began sharing meals with friends, word spread quickly. What started as comfort food for one became a source of comfort for many. One ordinary day, I made a simple post on Instagram from my couch—no expectations, just sharing what I love. To my surprise, someone called asking, “What are you cooking today?” I jumped up, ran to the store, and got to work. From that moment on, everything changed. That was the spark that ignited K’Maries504.

What's in a Name?

K’Maries504 is deeply personal. It’s a blend of my daughter’s first name and the middle name we share. The “504” represents where it all began—New Orleans. It’s a tribute to my roots and a promise to carry on the legacy of love, resilience, and soulful cuisine.

I’m a server at heart. Feeding people brings me joy. It’s how I love, how I connect, and how I create moments that matter.
